Hexagons

Well I almost feel embarrassed by the number of hexagons I have done while sitting here in hospital! Though I still think its better than watching TV all the time.....

I have been stitching in slow motion, honestly, but it seems that the more I do, the faster I get!!   I have 26 to show, in two pictures (cos they won't all fit in one!)

No 1 - pictures not the best - but I'm sure you get the drift

No 2 - Now let's be honest here - you and I all know that when I get home I'll be lucky to get one finished, don't we.

I've become quite fond of these multi coloured flowers, I like the different colours all together in the one flower, and it makes it more interesting to sew.

Well, thanks for looking, and hop on over to Karen at Journey of a Quilter - One Flower Wednesday and see what others have done.

Naughty Blogger, Annoying Blogger

Just a quick message to all, I'm having real problems with my laptop here in the hospital, and am unable to do some things that people have asked me to.  I don't think Blogger likes the laptop, nor the wifi network it's attached to!!

I will try to complete the requests as soon as I can, perhaps when I get home would be best.  Hopefully that will be Thursday, if I'm good....

Just a small picture of the back garden - I sure am home sick at the moment!

PS It's been tidied up a lot since this was taken! Honest!

This Should be a great swap

I've just been on the site of my friend Tanya at Wee Little Birds,  and she was writing about  Lisa
at My Little Creative Wonderland, who is having a "New Year Cracker Swap".

I thought it sounded really great and have joined up, why don't you give it a go as well?  It should be fun!!

A day in Hospital

Saturday morning,a wakened at 6 am for obs, nebulizer and pills ( gee they love this bit!)

7.30 breakfast - toast with jam, fruit and yoghurt, more pills, more puffers.  Shower and take a walk around the ward.  Talk  with Alan on the telephone, settle down and sort out the days sewing.

10.00am obs, nebulizer, cup of tea, back to sewing.  Are you seeing the routine happening here?

12 midday lunch, walk back to sewing.

2.00pm obs, nebuliser, back to sewing.

3.00 pm knock on door, nurse comes in with this:

Aren't they just gorgeous flowers, and with a monster box of Cadbury Favourites.

Liz told me that her "boys" had foregone their Schmacko money to help her pay for this gift, so it is from Liz, Benny and Bailey!!  Somehow I don't think that the boys would have had to fore go their sweet money, Liz  is too kind for that.

Just what do  you say to friends like that?

So back to 400 pm,  I'm getting tired and my fingers are sore from hand sewing, so I pack up and start some computer time and here we are:

The results of the days stitching, just had to give up in the middle of the last half inch hexie, he can wait until tomorrow now.  Have to surf!

I will be making this half inch hexie small quilt as I go, because I only have 30 half inch templates, and I'm already running out, so this might get put off soon and I'll go back to the inch hexies again.  That's the beauty of this hand sewing, you can pick it up and put it down as needs be.  I love it.

Well that's my boring first day even thought I got lots done, hopefully I can  go home in the middle of next week, I hope so anyhow, because it's a friends birthday and we were going out for a Chinese banquet.

I'll just stay positive.

I hope everyone had a nice Saturday.

To My Friends

I must take this opportunity to say thank you again to all my friends, both here and in blogland who have sent me their wishes.  There are too many for me to be able to thank individually at the moment, but I do appreciate every single one of you

I am a lucky person again, to have so many caring people in my life and I look forward to our continuing friendship.

What a Day!

Well today was a very busy day here in hospital land, I've had tests and CT scans and blood tests and more tests, hopefully someone will be able to work some strategy out from all this, I reckon I'm so radioactive from all these tests, I could light up an outback town!

But apart from that, I have a little picture for you:

A pair of half inch hexies with a bend in the middle. It's the way I placed them I hope, or more fudging will be needed!  They are sitting in front of the 1 inch hexies I did - but can't show you now, cos you'll have to wait until next week.  Sorry.  I promise it is worthwhile waiting...

I ran out of hexies to join last night, so I telephoned Alan and asked him to go into the sewing room and get me some scraps from the drawers and some other bits and pieces, so I could continue to sew.

I must say he did very well, brought me in a plastic bag full of scraps, some which I had forgotten about, they will make lovely hexie flowers.  I'm a lucky girl....

Hallo from me

Hi everyone, thought I would drop by and say hallo.

Of course I am back in hospital again with lung woes, but we won't go further into that one here!

I have 6 Hexagon Flowers to show but no picture, can you believe that ?  I can.  I forgot to grab the camera when I had to leave the house last night.  So I can't put pictures up until next One Flower Wednesday, and they are just SO cute:):):)  I'm sorry you are missing them tonight...

But never mind - let me find you a nice picture off my laptop, so it all hasn't been a waste -

Sunday Snippets

Very quiet weekend:

Meet Oscar Owl, he will be on his way tomorrow to his new home with Melody, he wouldn't get up on Saturday to go to the  post office!!  Sorry about the picture of him, he is all hand sewn but he just would not stand still for the camera!!

So hop on over to Tinniegirl now, and see what everyone else has been up to.  Oops. it looks like it'll be Sunday Snippets on a Monday again!

Remember these?  Well finally here are the remaining 4 done.

Its the starter block from Material Obsession that I started all that long time ago.  It may even get finished soon, the arms of the star are all different sizes so a bit of fudging will be employed!!

Look what the postie bought me!!

I couldn't believe my luck when I opened an envelope this morning

I have joined the Quilting Block Swaps Australia, and my first swap was with Melody of The House on The Side of the Hill .  I asked for a circle block on a grey background, and look at what she did!  I am really happy and surprised with what she sent me, and thankful that I had such a nice 1st swapper.

Thank you Melody.

I will be posting her block tomorrow, I hope she will like it.  I will show it to you tomorrow night.

Some Finishes

I've finally finished up the Christmas table runner:

I think the gold spotted binding sets it off nicely.

I've also sewed a passport holder for us:

This is the outside.

and here is the inside.  Very simple and easy to use.

I've also made some hexagon flowers, but I forgot to take pictures, I'll show them to you tomorrow night.

It was over 30 degrees Celsius here again today, with no sign of rain until at least next Wednesday I'm told.  The poor garden would like to pull up roots and move to a cooler climate!  We've used up our tank water and are back to using town water on it in an attempt to keep things going.  This heat just started suddenly, and we are all feeling it badly, still I suppose it could be worse, Melbourne and Sydney are getting drowned with heavy rain - they should send some up here!

Watch Flower Fall

I would like to introduce you to Flower, a prototype doggie pincushion:

as you can see, he is quite strange!  His front legs are lacking something - maybe it's muscle??  His bandanna covers up his caved  in chest, I think if you stuck a pin in him, he would collapse from the weight!!

But gee I think his ears are cute!!

The Great Mug Rug Swap Of November 2011

Each Thursday morning we have a sewing group meet at our local quilt store, and we have a great time, we have all become great friends.   Lots of good laughs and lots of work on our projects.

We decided amongst ourselves that we would have a mug rug swap, and it all happened today

This is the rug that I made for my friend Linda

and this is the back of it.  Linda was so taken with the label, I'm glad I remembered to put it on!

And here is the gorgeous mug rug I received from my friend Tanya, so much lovely handwork went into this, Tanya is very good with her embroidery, wish I could be half as good!

I was working today on my Christmas table runner - just need to edge and sew. Not a good picture, but I'm sure you get the drift!!

Hexagons

I am almost ashamed to say that I only have 1 hexie flower to show this week!  I've been busy doing some secret service stuff and just ran out of time....

So without further ado, here she is:

So there she is! Hopefully I'll get back into the hexie swing soon!

Drop by Kasren at Journey of a Quilter - One Flower Wednesday and have a look at the work by others.

Busy, Busy, Busy.

Well I survived the sewing machine debacle of Friday night, and found the bits on Saturday morning!

So I have been busy with sewing some special things, I have so much to show but I can't!

Will have to wait until the recipients receive their items, but boy, I have been having lots of fun!!

A sneak peek:

Just to show you some of the fabrics I have been using

While the pieced red, black and white star sits on the back burner.

May I take this opportunity to say thank you to every reader for your kind and thoughtful comments, they are very much appreciated.

Sunday Snippets with Tinniegirl sounds like a great idea to me!  Here's my weekend.
